Pacific HealthWorks, Emergent Medical Associates, Benchmark Hospitalists and Intensivists, and AnesthesiaWorks Under Investigation for Data Breach of Patient and Employee Records
Schubert Jonckheer & Kolbe LLP is investigating a data breach that led to unauthorized access to information of patients and employees held by Pacific HealthWorks, Emergent Medical Associates, Benchmark Hospitalists and Intensivists, and AnesthesiaWorks.
Pacific HealthWorks is a California-based company that provides hospital-based physician group practice management services. It is affiliated with Emergent Medical Associates, which provides emergency care and episodic care management to patients, communities, provider groups, and hospitals in the Western United States; Benchmark Hospitalists and Intensivists, which provides hospitalist and intensivist management services; and AnesthesiaWorks, which provides anesthesia services in hospital and surgery center settings.
On or around August 10, 2025, the ransomware group Everest reportedly published samples of stolen data from Pacific HealthWorks, Emergent Medical Associates, Benchmark Hospitalists and Intensivists, and AnesthesiaWorks on its dark web site. These organizations have not confirmed the data breach, notified affected individuals, or posted a notice on their websites.
Emergent Medical Associates partners with the following facilities and their associated medical providers: Centinela Hospital Medical Center, College Medical Center, Corona Regional Medical Center, Encino Hospital Medical Center, Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, Huntington Beach Hospital, Kula Hospital, La Palma Intercommunity Hospital, Lanai Community Hospital, Los Alamos Medical Center, Maui Memorial Medical Center, Palomar Medical Center Escondido, Palomar Medical Center Poway, Providence Tarzana Medical Center, San Dimas Community Hospital, Sherman Oaks Hospital, Temecula Valley Hospital, Valley Presbyterian Hospital, and West Henderson Hospital.
Benchmark Hospitalists and Intensivists partners with the following hospitals: California Hospital Medical Center, Corona Regional Medical Center, CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, Mercy Medical Center – Merced, Palmdale Regional Medical Center, Palomar Medical Center Escondido, Palomar Medical Center Poway, Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, Sonoma Valley Hospital, Temecula Valley Hospital, Torrance Memorial Medical Center, UC San Diego Health East Campus, UCI Health – Lakewood, and USC Arcadia Hospital.
AnesthesiaWorks partners with the following facilities and their associated medical providers: Chino Valley Medical Center, Corona Regional Medical Center, Montclair Hospital Medical Center, Riverside Medical Clinic – Brockton, San Dimas Community Hospital, Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Hospital, Southwest Healthcare Palmdale Regional Medical Center, Southwest Healthcare Rancho Springs Hospital, Southwest Healthcare Temecula Valley Hospital, Temecula Valley Day Surgery, Valley Presbyterian Hospital (Van Nuys, CA), and West Henderson Hospital.
The following information may have been compromised in the breach: name, Social Security number, date of birth, address, email, home phone, cell phone number, gender, race, marital status, financial class, medical and billing records, insurance and medical ID number, and insurance claims with diagnosis codes.
