Medical Associates of Brevard Under Investigation for Data Breach of Nearly 250,000 Records
Schubert Jonckheer & Kolbe LLP is investigating a data breach that led to unauthorized access to the sensitive information of 246,711 individuals affiliated with Medical Associates of Brevard, LLC (“MAB”) a Florida-based primary care provider.
On or around January 17, 2025, files containing sensitive data were compromised during a cyberattack of MAB’s system. MAB notified the Office of the Maine Attorney General on September 5, 2025, but did not disclose the total number of individuals affected until at least the following week.
Although the breach occurred in January 2025, MAB did not begin notifying affected individuals until on or around September 5, 2025, which may have violated state and federal laws. The following information may have been compromised in the breach: names, dates of birth, medical treatment information, health insurance information, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers/state identification numbers, and financial account information.
