Kentfield Hospital Under Investigation for Data Breach of Patient Records
Schubert Jonckheer & Kolbe LLP is investigating a data breach that led to unauthorized access to patient information held by Kentfield Hospital. Kentfield Hospital is a California-based critical access hospital.
Kentfield Hospital has failed to inform its patients whether their private information was stolen, but according to DataBreaches.com, the ransomware group World Leaks is in possession of 146.4 gigabytes of data consisting of 140,683 files. The admissions-related folders in World Leaks’s possession contained patient folders from 2020 and 2021, but also with the first months of 2022. Other patient-related files from 2023 and 2024 were noted, including investigations of complaints involving patient care and quality improvement reviews initiated by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
The following information may have been compromised in the breach: names, dates of birth, medical record numbers, financial record numbers, diagnoses, medications, medical care information, and test results.
