AppFolio, Inc. Under Investigation for Data Breach of Records
Schubert Jonckheer & Kolbe LLP is investigating a data breach that led to unauthorized access to the sensitive information of individuals affiliated with AppFolio, Inc. (“AppFolio”), a California-based provider of cloud-based property management software for real estate businesses.
On August 22, 2025, AppFolio was made aware of a security incident affecting Salesloft, which operates AppFolio’s customer relationship management (CRM) portal. The Salesloft breach, which affected hundreds of organizations, allowed unauthorized actors to access records contained in AppFolio’s and these other organizations’ Salesloft-operated CRM portals. According to the Texas Office of the Attorney General data breach portal, 5,056 Texans were affected.
Although the breach began in August 2025, AppFolio did not begin notifying affected individuals until on or around October 6, 2025, which may have violated state and federal laws. The following information may have been compromised in the breach: names, addresses, dates of birth, and Social Security numbers.
If your personal information was impacted by this incident, you may be at risk of identity theft and other serious violations of your privacy. As a result, you may be entitled to money damages and an injunction requiring changes to AppFolio’s cybersecurity practices.
