Marlboro-Chesterfield Pathology, P.C. Under Investigation for Data Breach of Over 235,000 Patient Records

On May 9, 2025, MCP publicly disclosed to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that it had experienced a data breach involving unauthorized access to its internal IT systems. According to a notice published by MCP on its website, the company discovered unauthorized activity on some internal IT systems on January 16, 2025. 

Although the breach occurred in January, MCP did not begin notifying impacted patients until on or around May 9, 2025, which may have violated state and federal laws. The company recently informed patients that the following personal and health information may have been stolen in the breach: names, health insurance information, dates of birth, and medical treatment information. 

If your personal information was impacted by this incident, you may be at risk of identity theft and other serious violations of your privacy. As a result, you may be entitled to money damages and an injunction requiring changes to MCP’s cybersecurity practices.
