Peñafiel Spring Water Recalled for Excessive Arsenic

water.png

On June 21, 2019, Keurig Dr Pepper announced that it would withdraw Peñafiel unflavored mineral spring water products from the market, due to the presence of violative levels of arsenic. Arsenic is poisonous to humans and regulations exist to limit the amount present in drinking water. Testing conducted by the Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) indicates that Peñafiel spring water contained an arsenic level of 16 parts per billion (“ppb”), well-above the legal limit of 10 ppb. Exposure to arsenic has been linked to numerous public health risks, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, kidney disease, and diabetes.

The Schubert Law Firm has filed a lawsuit against Keurig Dr Pepper for selling Peñafiel mineral spring water containing excessive amounts of arsenic. The lawsuit filed in the Northern District of California on June 3, 2019 (3:19-cv-030502-SI), seeks monetary damages for all persons who purchased the affected products in the United States.
